Q:- Noisy Pipes
A:- Pipe noises range from loud hammering sounds to high-pitched squeaks. The causes may be loose pipes, water logged air chambers, or water pressure that's too high. Anchoring exposed pipes is a simple solution; other remedies such as anchoring pipes concealed inside walls, floors or ceilings, may call for a professional. Contact BJ Plumbing for help.
Q:- Banging Pipes
A:- Pipes are usually anchored with pipe straps every 6 to 8 feet for horizontal runs, 8 to 10 feet for vertical. If your pipes bang when you turn on the water, you may need to add straps, cushion the pipes with a rubber blanket, or both. When you anchor a pipe-especially a plastic one-leave room for expansion. Don't use galvanized straps on copper pipes.
Q:- Squeaking Pipes
A:- Only hot water pipes squeak. As the pipe expands, it moves in its strap, and friction causes the squeak. Solution: Cushion it as you would a banging pipe.
Q:- "How long does jut / powerflushing take?"

What is Powerflushing?
This allows for the full flushing of a central heating system with minimal dismantling. Flushing the system this way helps loosen corrosion deposits and sludge which then gets drained / removed from the heating system leaving the pipes and radiators clear to resume good circulation.
This process is a highly effective method of cleaning central heating systems. It is the most efficient way of getting rid of sludge and rust in your radiators, boiler and pump.
What is "Sludge"?
Sludge is a kind of 'mud' caused by a reaction between the water that moves through the system and the steel in the radiators. Over a period of time, this can build up and cause various problems such as poor circulation and flow.
Some symptoms which may indicate your central heating system may have a problem with sludge include:
Strange noises from the boiler.
Some radiators are working while others are partially or completely cold.
The radiators need frequent bleeding to restore heat distribution.
Repeated pump failures occur or there are corrosion deposits in the pump casing.
